Job Description

The Accountant II position carries out the work of the Accounting Department and continuously improves upon the department s role in business operations. The Accountant II maintains financial records and transactions, ensures accuracy of the general ledger, performs month-end close of books for assigned properties, and creates financial reports and statements as required. This position often works independently and requires a great deal of discretion and judgment.
  • Maintain financial records and ensure financial transactions are properly recorded
  • Ensure the accuracy of entries to ledger accounts and reconcile subsidiary ledger accounts to the general ledger
  • Serve as bank contact on appropriate accounts and perform bank reconciliations
  • Prepare balance sheets, profit and loss statements, and other financial reports
  • Analyze current costs, revenues, financial commitments, and obligations incurred to predict future revenues and expenses
  • Perform month-end closing of books for multiple assigned properties
  • Calculate agent commissions and generate checks
  • Create, maintain, and automate business software, systems, processes, and operations
  • Support, lead, or manage delegated business projects, processes, systems, and/or data, as requested
  • Perform other tasks as needed by Accounting Manager or Executive Management
  • Ability to remain focused and juggle multiple tasks while remaining calm
  • Extremely detail-oriented
  • Strong analytical skills particularly related to detailed review and verification of business data, systems, and processes
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel (understanding of Macros, V-Look-ups, Pivot Tables, and related functionality is preferred)
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to interact with personnel across multifunctional groups
  • Strong data entry skills and a quick learner
  • Ability to balance and complete numerous requests on an ad hoc frequency
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to read, write, and speak fluent English
  • Solid mathematical aptitude and effective project management skills
  • Ability to analyze and document complex business processes
  • Ability to think analytically and problem solve
  • Ability to gather and interpret relevant data and information
  • 5 years professional administration/accounting experience required. Education (related degree from accredited institution) and/or related internship experience may substitute for professional experience.
  • Experience with AvidXchange, Yardi PAYscan, Nexus, or other automated A/P software is preferred, but not required
  • Experience with Yardi Voyager Property Management Software is preferred, but not required
  • Experience with Yardi CHECKscan is preferred, but not required
  • Frequently remains in a sitting position
  • Frequently uses the computer with fingers and hands when typing documents for agents and office staff
  • Seldom stoops, kneels, or bends to repair office equipment such as copier
  • Frequently works in a well-lit, tempered room
